15 Years of Community
What began as a single nostalgic lunch has grown into a thriving cultural anchor. Here is how we built our home away from home.
Founded as Stavanger Keralites
Longing for the sights, sounds, and flavors of home, a handful of Malayali families gathered in Stavanger to share an Onam feast. In that single afternoon of laughter and connection, the seed of our community was planted.
Renamed to ARK
We outgrew our city limits! As more families arrived across Sandnes, Sola, and beyond, we expanded our horizons and officially became the Association of Rogaland Keralites (ARK) — anchoring Malayalis across the entire region.
Making It Official
To better serve our expanding family, ARK became a fully registered, formal non-profit organization in Norway. This opened doors to bigger venues, better events, and a permanent voice in the local cultural landscape.
An Active, Growing Community
Today, ARK is a bustling, multi-generational hub. From massive festival stages and cozy picnics to guiding the next generation of Malayali-Norwegians, we keep the vibrant spirit, language, and heartbeat of Kerala thriving under the Nordic skies—now proudly uniting more than 200 members across Rogaland.
